With all of the imports flowing into the US every day and the false claims of performance that come with them, we thought it would be helpful to answer the number one question we hear day in and day out..."Why should I pay more money for a Timberwolf 25 ton splitter when I can get a 37 ton machine for the same money?" Great question!
The first thing to understand is that when most manufacturers (or should we say importers, assemblers, and marketers) of log splitters give ratings, it is for the hydraulic piston potential, NOT the actual operating pressures.
What type of valves are being used? What size is the rod and piston? How big is the hydraulic fluid tank? How efficient is the splitting wedge itself? Can the frame support extreme loads caused by knotted or twisted logs? What kind of engine provides the power? These factors are the real contributors to overall power, and combined with the real ton ratings from a reliable manufacturer, they should give you a good idea of what to expect.
We prepared this video of our TW-5 to show its true power. This machine is rated at 25 tons. Again, you could get any number of other log splitters rated at 25 tons and couldn't come close to our machine's awesome power and speed. There's a reason it's the "Pro's Choice"!
