Chain Saw
Role
in the Wood Processor System
The chain saw cuts a section of the log to the desired length, from 2 inches to 24 inches.
Advice
From the Professionals
A hydraulically operated 25" bar with .404" chain saw is standard on all Timberwolf processors. The chain saw runs off the processor hydraulics, so no mixed gas is required. An automatic oiler with a pump and 5 gallon reservoir keeps the chain saw system lubricated.
Available
Types
A
circular saw is used on some competitor's processors and is
available on custom Timberwolf processors. A circular saw is
quicker and does not need to be sharpened as often, but costs
considerably more to purchase and sharpen.
Reading
the Specs
The chain saw utilizes .404 chain, which is relatively inexpensive and widely available. Depending on the cleanliness of the wood, the chain can cut approximately 9 cords of wood before needing to be sharpened. The chain can be sharpened on the machine or can be quickly removed and replaced with a fresh chain and sharpened off site.
